The following account was written by a Heritage Defense member family we assisted. 

“We are very grateful for our investment in a membership with Heritage Defense. Our family visited a friend this summer and had a carefree day playing in their above-ground pool. Our two-year-old had a particularly fun time swimming that day. A little while later, I found him floating in the same pool, completely blue.

It was a horrific scene. It was a complete accident that he had very quietly snuck out of our friend’s house, and none of the adults present heard him leave. It was God’s grace to our family that only a few minutes passed before I realized Joseph wasn’t playing on the floor with trucks anymore and went to look for him.

Thankfully, I was able to revive him, and he quickly recovered on our way to the hospital. The deputy sheriffs who responded to the 911 call said they would have to file a report for any drowning with CPS and that we should expect a visit from them.

My mind immediately went to the magnet on my fridge at home with the number for Heritage. The day came when we’d need to call that number. My husband called Heritage while I was at the hospital and received preliminary instructions in case a social worker visited us at the hospital.

That gave me a lot of peace because I knew what to do. The local attorney affiliated with Heritage also texted me that night while I was at the hospital in case I needed anything.

We were then visited by a caseworker the very next morning, 9am on a Sunday. She wanted to interview us and the children and fill out paperwork. I was in touch with the local attorney, and he advised we could go ahead with the interview with a few stipulations. He also said he would be available to attend a future visit in person.

Thankfully, the case has been closed, and no further action was taken by CPS, but I felt very supported by Heritage Defense throughout the whole process, and I am very glad we have them on our team as a family. The monthly membership fee is well worth the service provided, and we plan to continue with their services as long as we have minor children in our home. Thank you to all involved!”

Jason and Emily never expected a carefree visit to a friend’s home to result in a horrible accident, and a CPS investigation.
