It was a normal Monday afternoon when Mrs. Pinkston* heard a knock on the door. It was a child protective services (CPS) investigative social worker. Then Mrs. Pinkston opened the door, the social worker immediately informed her that a report had been made against her to child protective services.
The social worker was extremely confrontational and demanding. She began reading Mrs. Pinkston a list of what CPS wanted to do, including interviewing all of the children and conducting an inspection of the home. Mrs. Pinkston politely interrupted the social worker and said, “Excuse me one moment while I get my attorney on the phone.” She stepped back inside, closed the door, and immediately called the Heritage Defense 24/7 hotline.
After speaking to one of the Heritage Defense attorneys, Mrs. Pinkston again opened the door. Simply informing the social worker that an attorney was involved completely changed the social workers demeanor. She became much friendlier and less demanding. She gave Mrs. Pinkston her information and then left.
Heritage Defense completely handled the case from that point on and the Pinkston family did not see or hear from CPS again until they were informed that the case was closed.
