SWAT Enters Home After Parents Disagree with Doctor Over Treatment

Posted on April 25, 2019

After Sarah took her son to the hospital with a high fever, the doctor told them to go to the ER. After the doctor learned that Sarah had not immediately gone to the ER (because her son’s fever was going down), he called CPS. That evening, SWAT kicked in their door and removed the children.

This article illustrates how a simple doctor’s visit can turn into a situation involving SWAT and CPS.

According to Sarah, once she left the doctor’s office, her son began acting normally and his temperature was going down. She notified her doctor that she was not taking him to the ER. Once the doctor heard that Sarah had not shown up at the ER, he called CPS.

CPS and the police later came to the family’s home and when the father declined to let them in, they obtained a court order. At around 1 AM, a SWAT team entered the home with guns drawn, handcuffed the father, and removed the children.
