Father Arrested After Daughter Tells Teacher He Spanked Her

After a California lawmaker’s young daughter told her teacher that her father had spanked her, he was arrested for child cruelty and CPS took away his three children.

One evening, California state assemblyman Joaquin Arambula spanked his seven-year-old daughter after she misbehaved. She went to school the next morning and told her teacher that her father spanked her. After school administrators reported that they saw an “injury” on the girl’s body, the police were called and CPS removed all three children.

Eventually, after they concluded that no abuse had occurred, CPS returned the children. However, Mr. Arambula still was charged with “willful child cruelty” and if convicted, faced a year in prison. Ultimately, at his recent trial in May, he was found to be not guilty.

This article illustrates one of the reasons why membership with Heritage Defense is currently only open to homeschooling families. In many states, if a social worker wants to speak with a child, that worker can enter their school, remove that child from class, and interview them without parental consent.

A CPS case can arise at any time and involve any family. That is why we encourage families to join Heritage Defense to have an experienced Christian attorney available 24/7 to defend your rights.
