Member Story: Neighbors climb fence to video family’s children

The Mackenzie* family suspected there was criminal activity going on at their neighbor’s house. When the Mackenzies saw those neighbors climbing the Mackenzies’ fence to video the Mackenzies’ children, they felt they had to call the police. 

After the police visited the neighbors and gave them a warning, the neighbors retaliated by falsely reporting the Mackenzies to CPS.

The Mackenzies were members of Heritage Defense, so when they found a note from CPS on their front porch, they immediately called the members-only 24/7 hotline and were quickly connected with an attorney. 

The Heritage Defense attorney immediately reached out to CPS. Thankfully, the social worker seemed to understand that the neighbor was seeking revenge on the family and that there was no cause for concern. She only asked for documentation that the children were safe and that the house had sufficient food.

Heritage Defense provided information, including letters from the family’s friends and from a medical professional vouching for the family.

Soon after receiving this, CPS closed the case.
