Donating to Heritage Defense and Heritage Defense Foundation
Our mission is to advance the Kingdom of Christ by protecting and empowering the biblical family. This mission is promoted through two separate nonprofit entities: Heritage Defense and Heritage Defense Foundation. Although both Heritage Defense and Heritage Defense Foundation share the same mission, legal reasons compel us to have two separate organizations in order to conduct the broad range of activities needed to promote this mission.
What is the difference between the two organizations?
Both Heritage Defense and Heritage Defense Foundation are similar in many ways. Both have the same mission, both are nonprofit organizations, and both provide legal service and public education programs. The primary difference between the two is that Heritage Defense is classified as a 501(c)(4) organization and Heritage Defense Foundation is classified as a 501(c)(3). This is significant to some of our donors because donations to a 501(c)(3) are tax-deductible, while donations to a 501(c)(4) are not.
Why not conduct all activities through the 501(c)(3) organization since donations to it are tax-deductible?
There are laws across the country that infringe on parental rights, and new ones are proposed almost every day. For that reason, we desire to see the defeat of bad laws and the enacting of good laws to restore protection for these rights. However, attempts to influence legislation through 501(c)(3) organizations are limited because federal law restricts the amount that 501(c)(3) organizations can spend on seeking to influence legislation. Therefore, in order to seek the improvement of laws across the country while maximizing the tax benefits of our donors, both organizations are needed.
To which organization should I donate?
We understand that most donors would like to receive a tax deduction for their donation, which is why our donation page provides a link to donate to the 501(c)(3) organization, Heritage Defense Foundation.
However, if tax-deductibility is not important for you, your gift can support a broader range of activities when you donate to Heritage Defense by check.
If I want to donate with a check, where should I send it?
