Member Story: A woman was stalking our child

Posted on September 4, 2025

The following account was written by a Heritage Defense member family we assisted.

Recently, we found out we would soon be responsible for the full financial provision of an elderly parent in a nursing home.

We had to cut the budget. I added "Cancel Heritage Defense" to my to-do list.

Two days later (and before canceling), our son Carson* told us that the mother of a student in one of his online classes had been threatening him with reporting our family to CPS if Carson broke up as their daughter's boyfriend. The mother had been facilitating Carson’s forced "relationship" with their daughter online for several months.

A few months earlier, this mother from Wisconsin (a stranger to us) had requested to meet us in person, where we live in Florida. My husband realized this mother intended for our children's relationship to be romantic. We were not comfortable with this, so we declined her request and told her we wanted all contact to cease.

It was only when Carson informed us that we found out this mother did not respect our request at that time, but rather decided instead to try to work around us as parents, the past five months, and facilitate this forced relationship anyway.

We found out that this mother from Wisconsin had forced our son to leave gifts for their daughter in our mailbox in Florida, which they drove here to pick up.

They went by our children's co-op, took pictures at our local grocery store, and asked Carson to confirm that's where we shopped. She tried to send him a secret phone and meet Carson secretly at a nearby venue.

The mother even sent Carson gifts.

We told Carson to stop all contact immediately with them, and we contacted Heritage Defense.

The attorney advised us to file a police report. The deputy who took the report thought we had a slam-dunk stalking (felony) case.

Two days after the police report, CPS contacted us. The mother had apparently retaliated just as promised.

Our attorney took over with the social worker, explaining we were dealing with a stalking situation.

He had us send the social worker our police report, reference letters, and pics of our fridges, home, and the children.

But the case remained open.

So, our attorney advised us to set an appointment for the social worker to talk to Carson directly (with the attorney present).

At this meeting, we found out this woman had told CPS that we were withholding food from our children, hitting them with various objects, causing mental illness in our child, and failing to provide mental health care.

Our attorney explained that this woman was absolutely harassing us.

The social worker agreed, took notes, and left.

Four weeks after meeting with the social worker and our attorney,
we received a letter that her retaliatory report against us had been closed.

Her report was found to be unsubstantiated.
