Remove religious exemptions to vaccines?

Posted on August 14, 2025

In July of 2025, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) updated its policy recommendations for child care and school attendance immunizations.

While many states currently allow religious, philosophical, or personal belief objections, the AAP is recommending the removal of all nonmedical vaccine exemptions.

This would apply in states where vaccine mandates include homeschoolers.

Specifically, the AAP recommends: “that all states, territories, and the District of Columbia eliminate all nonmedical exemptions from immunizations as a condition of school attendance.”

At this point, it is only a recommendation, and we will continue to monitor vaccine laws for homeschoolers. But this is a significant reminder that we must continue to make our voices heard. We encourage families to connect with parental rights and vaccine freedom advocates in your state to find out what you can do. The struggle for freedom is ongoing.
